Welcome to Department of Sociology


The Department of Sociology was established in 2015, dedicated to extending knowledge to enrich and enlivening individual and public life. 

Currently, the department has been offering Graduate Program for students of Sociology, However, the higher degree programs are in the process of launching. Every year, the department is receiving a number of admission applications, and a significant number of students are enrolled in the Graduate program.

In the Women University Multan, the Department of Sociology provides up-to-date programs/courses that connect theory with cutting-edge research. Some of the courses being taught in the Department of Sociology have a multi-disciplinary approach. This ensures that the Undergraduate Program is pluralistic in nature and covers the main sub-branches of Sociology.  Moreover, these courses can address societal concerns such as development, globalization, politics, economy, etc. In the BS program, students are given the freedom to choose topics of their own focus point during their thesis project. Individual support is also provided to students through various initiatives and mentoring programs. The department has also introduced initiatives such as internships, community engagement, and social work to provide the chance for students to keenly observe the social challenges of the community. In order to fulfill said objective department maintained a close relationship through (MOUs) with various public and private sector organizations, NGOs, and hospitals as well. Sociology also offers students rigorous training to critically examine the social world, including groups, institutions, cultures, and interactions. In the department, students have the opportunity to study under highly qualified and well-trained foreign and local experts in their fields. The department is enriched with highly qualified faculty members who channel their innovative research insights into their teaching. Teachers are dedicated to the creativity, critical examination, diffusion, and solicitation of social knowledge in its various forms.

The department of sociology aims to apply a diverse range of rigorous methods to real-world issues in order to answer the most pressing sociological questions of modern times.

The Department of Sociology welcomes the best graduate students from all over the world. They join a community more than hundred students who enjoy first-class facilities for studying as well as the opportunity to advance the leading edge of the discipline.

 The department values training in Sociological theory and a wide range of research methods. The Department of Sociology has rich traditional fundamental contributions to Social Sciences. Every era in the department’s history has shaped inquiry on international scale. Our programs of Associate Degree Program (ADP) and BS Morning and Evening offer a transdisciplinery learning environment where students may pursue critical studies of labor, migration and capitalism, carceral society, surveillance power and politics.

The faculty of Sociology brings the intellectual traditions of our discipline in a systematic way to the curriculum and to our own research. We are dedicated through our teaching and service to encourage imaginations that foresee a more just society and which identify the individual's contribution to the social construction and reproduction of just practices and institutions.

Objectives

The Sociology Department of the 21st century is methodological breadth and depth with faculty and students engaged in:

  • An analytical research approaches in which surveys social demography, ethnography.
  • Depth interviews and developing skills of research instruments, cultural economic and indigenous social issues.
  • Developing the useful leaders in all fields of life.
  • Promoting gender, migration, criminology, culture, politics, poverty, race, communication and social psychology.
  • Develop a wide range of research projects and publications.

Its faculty are deeply committed to the development of sociological theory in the service of addressing fundamental sociological questions about the empirical world. The Women University, Multan. Department of the 21st century is characterized by unsurpassed methodological breadth and depth with faculty and students engaged in a variety of approaches to research including surveys, ethnography, in depth interviews, bio data, social demography, casual influence and historical archival work, Deep engage with central social issues in the American landscape such as racial inequality, gender discrimination, violence and mass incarceration is coupled with expertise in Political economic, social and cultural issues in other parts of the world such as Latin America, Asia and Europe.
