Welcome to Department of Political Science & International Relation


The Department of Political Science & International Relations established in 2013 under The Women University Multan to provide quality education to the female students. By providing solid academic and analytical foundation for practical decision making. Initially Department introduced BS Political Science & I.R. from 2010 and Masters in Political Science & I.R. from 2015. Since 2016 Department is also offering Master in International Relations regularly. The department is endeavored to give its students education that enables them to become potential candidates for CSS and YPO (youth president organizations) exam at UNO and as well as to avail employment opportunities in foreign offices, Higher Education Institutes and Think Tanks.

Realizing the significance of this discipline. Department provides the students with latest facilities for learning and research process including, free Wi-Fi network facility, open access to HEC Digital Library and a well-equipped multimedia seminar room.

Vision

To provide the excellent knowledge based education along with character building and taking the nation forward by developing high quality political scientist beaurocrates and diplomats. Providing solution based approach through research relevant to the national needs, towards the transformation of the state into a knowledge based economy.

Mission

The mission of the department is to develop high quality political scientists committed to the pursuit of excellence and who are imbibed with vision, perception, courage and dedication.

To improve academic standards in this region through knowledge management and build social capital. The mission is to contribute towards the socio-political and    socio-economic development of Pakistan. Building indigenous intellectuals repository of the region as well as to develop better understanding about challenges and prospects of international system.

Objectives

After completing their studies in the department of Political Science, the students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate professional and good citizenship values.
  • Increase knowledge of the political science discipline; its principal theoretical frameworks and applications, conceptual vocabulary, and methods of inquiry; its major subfields of study; and its interrelationships with the other social science fields.
  • Increase recognition of the major problems, the leading policies, and the legal issues confronting contemporary political systems,
  • Increase knowledge of diverse political systems around the world, including empirical area-based knowledge; broader theoretical understanding of different political systems, institutions and processes; and the changing domestic and global contexts within which they operate.
  • Increase acquisition of citizenship skills, ethical values, and the ability to understand and appreciate human diversity; and to engage in community life as active citizens.
  • Provide opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students to link theory and practice and to apply political science knowledge and skills to actual problem-solving and community service.
  • Increase awareness of career options available with an undergraduate degree in political science; its utility in the public and private sectors; and its value as entry into a range of graduate programs, teaching positions, and legal education.

Realizing the significance of this discipline, Department of Political Science and International Relations has taken initiative to introduce one-year diploma program in International Affairs. Department provides the students with latest facilities for learning and research process including, free Wi-Fi network facility, open access to HEC Digital Library and a well-equipped multimedia seminar room.
