Summary

Dr. Asia Bibi has been working as Assistant Professor of Zoology since 2013 and as Chairperson since 2015 in the Department of Zoology, The Women University Multan. She got her PhD degree from University of the Punjab, Lahore in 2012. As a part of her PhD, she availed IRSIP scholarship of HEC and moved to University of Edinburgh, UK in 2010 where she worked on Breast Cancer Genetics. Successful achievements during PhD included the study of Genetic Alterations of TP53 Tumor Suppressor Gene in Human Cancer tissue by SSCP, RFLP and sequencing, expression of AGR2 Gene in cancer tissue by Immunohistochemistry, testing and validating a series of PDK1 kinase inhibitors and peptide aptamers that inhibit AGR2 gene in cancer cell lines and developing isogenic inducible cell lines (through gateway cloning technology) expressing AGR2 gene etc. Currently, she is involved in teaching and research including supervision of research projects of Postgraduate students for their M.phil and Ph.D dissertations, in the Department of Zoology. Her research interests include pathological basis of genetic diseases, drug discovery, gene expression, molecular markers, DNA Barcoding, Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Microbiology and Microbiome studies.
