Awareness Seminar Organized by ORIC, WUM in Collaboration with National Productivity Organization on “Strengthening Of Capabilities to Enhance Competitiveness for Sustainable National Productivity
The linkage of academia and industry has a strategic role in developing critical skills required by industry (both production and service sector), generation, acquisition, and adoption of knowledge, and in promoting entrepreneurship (start-ups and spin-offs). In this regard, NPO, joined WUM community for the awareness session on Productivity with an objective of Economically Productive and Globally Competitive Pakistan.The office of Research Innovation and Commercialization, The Women University Multan under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Uzma Quraishi, Vice Chancellor, in collaboration with National Productivity Organization (NPO) organized an awareness session on Productivity & walk with faculty and students in L-shaped building, Katchery Campus, WUM. NPO is presently operating under the umbrella of the Ministry of Industries & Production (MoI&P), Government of Pakistan, and is an active member of Asian Productivity Organization (APO) Tokyo-Japan. The awareness seminar started with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Dr. Kanwal Rehman, Director ORIC, WUM formally welcomed the guests. Dr. Saima Nasreen, research manager ORIC, WUM gave an overview of the NPO followed by the presentation by Mr. Ch. Moiz from NPO highlighting the role of the organization as sole Government body undertaking Productivity with Quality Initiatives In Pakistan. In fact, this session paved a way to explore opportunities for capacity building and training for WUM Faculty and Students through APO Tokyo-Japan as the session focused on the availability of such opportunities. Further, Mr. Saddarudin Gillani, Incharge, regional NPO, Multan himself, and on behalf of Mr. Aftab Khan, DGM, NPO highlighted the objectives of the session. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Uzma Qureshi presented the shield to NPO representatives and appreciated the session for highlighting the opportunity of using NPO platform to showcase research products and bringing them to market by filling the gap between industry needs and academia.
