Pro-Rector (Academics)

Dr Asif Raza is a graduate of the College of Aeronautical Engineering (CAE), the most prestigious and the only Aeronautical Engineering Institution of the country.  He received the Avionics Engineering degree with distinction and has the honour of winning the coveted award for the overall best graduate of the year 1979.  He earned his Master’s Degree in Electronics from University of Southampton, UK in 1983 and PhD in Communication and Electronic System Design from Beijing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics, PR China in 1998.

Dr Asif Raza has been a faculty member at College of Aeronautical Engineering, now a constituent Institution of WUM.  At CAE he has taught courses related to electric circuits, electronics, digital systems, microprocessors, radar systems etc. He has several years’ experience of maintenance, design, development and management of Radar Sensors, Aircraft systems, Communication systems etc.   He also has the distinction of working on projects of National importance at the Air Weapons Complex, National Engineering and Scientific Commission (NESCOM).

He has headed the Research Centre for Modelling and Simulation (RCMS), a constituent institution of WUM and is now working as Pro-Rector (Academics) since Jan 2009. He has focused on aligning the academic policies of WUM in accordance with the International best practices and ensured that the existing and new programs were made relevant to requirements of the market.   He has also given special attention to enforcing quality enhancement measures to achieve highest academic standards.

He is a member of IEEE (The Institution of Electrical & Electronics Engineers, USA), Member Institute of Engineers Pakistan (MIE Pak) and Member Pakistan Engineering Council (Professional Engineer).  He has been conferred with the awards of Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (M) and Hilal-e-Imtiaz (M).
